Prom Part 1 Santana

Tonight I went to Santana High Schools prom with my friend Rachael from church. I thought about prom for as long as I can remember. Imagining many things about what its like. I'm not relating any of this back to Rachael, for the record it's what I thought growing up. My idea of prom was always the night you and your date are supposed to get a hotel room and do it for the first time. I imagined that thats what I would do. I also imagined music that I like, 70's, 80's.

The reality of prom is very different. It's just like any other dance with bad modern music. Their is the fancier clothes which I like a lot. I came dressed in the outfit planned. Rachael and I didn't know what to do. The dance floor was overcrowded and the music sucked... Their was food but we just ate at her house so we were stuffed. We ended up dancing in a little corner of of the apparently sticky dance floor. Dancing is not as it once was in a ballroom. The girls stick there butts out magnetizing the men, then theirs lines of air humping and groups of two. Their's no class in that.

My moment in the spotlight came when Beat It came on. Luckily I know enough of the routine to pull off the illusion. I was in the middle of the dance floor and everyone gathered around to watch The Michael Jackson Kid. This is Santana so it's new to them...Maybe. While I was dancing people started chanting, "Bobby! Bobby! Bobby!" I would love to know how all these people knew my name. Am I that famous? Anyway, around the end of the song I was getting a bit tired. but the routine helped me finish strong.

After that I danced with Rachael for a long time, the way people should dance. Every song had the same tempo, rhythm, and amount of cussing. The songs had to match the dances I guess... cussing and dry humping. Rachael and I were handed candles at the beginning but they were stolen half way through. What a world we live in, lol.

I got a second win when Billie Jean came on. Their's a problem with this song though. I like to stick to the basics of Michael's routine but the main portion consists of simple moves. They don't WOW people as I would like. After Beat It, it's hard to raise the bar. None of the big moves come in Billie Jean 'till after the bridge and Moonwalk. The Moonwalk acts as a finally type move. I can't put big moves before it. I've done the Billie Jean routine many times at dances and I think it's fine if I don't WOW people before it. I was in a corner of the dance floor for this song, once again surrounded by Santana people watching. It gives me an energy boost when there is a crowed.

The prom ended at midnight but most people were gone before that, probably doing what I imagined should happen at prom. I can't wait to do the same thing tomorrow.
